As a kid, one activity that I have truly enjoyed and shown continuous participation in is dancing. As an Indian, dancing is very essential and done in almost all events, weddings, parties and almost all celebrations. As a kid, I have been to numerous Bollywood dance classes and I enjoy dancing on Bollywood music. It is one of my consistent hobbies as a kid till today and hopefully the future. Garba is a traditional Indian dance done once a year. the event has loud music and nonstop dancing and open to everyone and the best part is that it goes on all night from 8 pm to 6 am. Even though your legs may hurt, but your spirit and desire to dance won't be satisfied. This is the one thing I love the most about being an Indian and one event that I wait desperately for every year. I have been doing dance classes for Garba since I was in grade 5. Every year, I have a good time and improve my dancing skills and boost my confidence. I have shown progress each year. Each year, I learn a new skill as there is always room for improvement. This year I learned how to easily join different dancing circles and adapt quickly because in Garba there are open circles everyone is allowed to join and adapt in synchronization. If you fail to adapt or synchronize, you might end up being hit on your foot, get slapped by accident while others are moving their arms and legs, not purposely. Anyways, so this year, after years of experience, it was very easy for me to catch up to new steps and join different circles. There would be dance circles including 100 people all dancing together in sync. One skill, that develops while dancing is your ability to be confident. As there are 1000 people in this event, you don't care about how you dance and the entire focus isn't on you. Therefore, you are carefree and bring out the best in you. Another skill, developed is social abilities because when you are dancing, you are surrounded by many people, and while dancing you can talk and interact with so many people by helping them out, casually just talking or sharing the same thoughts on the event, music, dance, etc. Of course, as there is always room for improvement, I will like to focus more on the grace and elegance in the following year. When the dance is done elegantly and gracefully, it is just too beautiful and enjoyable. I have shown a commitment to this event and dancing for almost 7 - 8 years, and I hope that in the future I continue to no matter where I live in the future. In conclusion, this activity is something I have shown constant commitment towards showing immense growth in, developing new skills like social skills, self-confidence and there is still room more improvement. I am looking forward to future Garba events in the following years and much more endless dancing and fun.
